Blood of the Republic: A Game of Roman Glory, Law, and Betrayal is a large-group Roman political strategy game for 12–15 players built around voting, hidden roles, reputation management, and player elimination through public trials and Arena combat.
Each 120+ minute game is played over 8 “Months” (rounds). Every round includes:
1. Senate Debate Phase – Players openly negotiate, propose Laws (max 2 per round), accuse rivals to lower their Reputation, and elect a Consul who gains Glory and chooses one Arena combatant.
2. Arena Voting Phase – Two players face public judgment. The group votes to Kill, Disgrace (–2 Reputation), Spare, or Grant Glory.
3. Glory & Dictatorship System – Players earn public Glory by winning office and passing Laws. At 6 Glory, a player may declare Dictatorship, but must survive one full round to win.
4. Reputation Track (–3 to +3) – Low Reputation makes you vulnerable; at –3, you are automatically sent to the Arena.
5. Hidden Factions – Majority Republic or Republic-aligned, reformist Populares, a single Tyrant, and a Saboteur with asymmetric win conditions.
6. Dynamic Month Event Deck – Each round introduces global rule changes such as anonymous voting, doubled penalties, forced Arena fights, or permanent laws.
This is not a night-kill game. All power shifts happen publicly through speeches, votes, and lawmaking, creating intense social deduction without downtime!
